Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 74 per cent of Pakistanis do not like to discriminate between genders and hence believe that both men and women are entitled to equal amount of salary if the nature of their work is similar.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the country were asked, “If in an office or factory, women and men are doing the same kind of job, do you think they should be paid the same or should men be paid more?” to which 74 per cent responded that women should be given equal pay as their male counterparts for the same job, whereas 25 per cent said that men should definitely be paid more. One per cent of the respondents gave no response.

The data reveals no stark difference across various demographics, as roughly equal proportions of respondents from both rural and urban areas and all age groups support equal salary package for both men and women.
