Ministry loses interest in new education policy ISLAMABAD: Former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain said on Friday that he has resigned as chairman of Pak-Arab Refinery (Parco).


Sources in the petroleum ministry said that petroleum minister Syed Naveed Qamar is likely to be elected chairman of Parco at its board’s meeting scheduled to be held on Monday.


Parco officials said that as per an understanding between Pakistan and Abu Dhabi, chairman of the refinery would be a Pakistani and the managing director would be nominated by the Abu Dhabi government and both the posts are elected by the board.


Parco is a joint venture between government of Pakistan and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, with 60 per cent shareholding by the Government of Pakistan and 40pc by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, through its Abu Dhabi Petroleum Investment Company (ADPI), a subsidiary group of International Petroleum Investment Company.
