City Nazim Mustafa Kamal has directed officials of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to submit a detailed feasibility report for bringing the remaining 100 million gallon per day (MGD) of water of the approved quota from the Indus River to the city.

The report has been sought within a week so that work on this project can begin immediately.

The Nazim issued these directives after a visit on Saturday to Chilya Bund, Kenjhar Lake, Gharo and Dhabeji, where he inspected various installations of the KWSB. He said that since the KWSB was the only organisation in Karachi that fulfills the water requirements of more than 18 million people, it should plan for the future, and also recover dues from consumers. He further said that water should be provided through pipelines to various schemes of Malir and the Lyari Development Authority.
