ISLAMABAD: Housing Secretary Ahmed Bukhsh Lehri has complained of long delays by Capital Development Authority (CDA) in the identification and acquisition of land for housing projects for the federal government employees in the federal capital. Talking to APP on Sunday, Lehri said the ministry had to depend on the CDA for land possession for housing projects. He expressed the fear that the delayed land identification and acquisition could adversely impact the ministry’s ongoing and future schemes for government employees in the city. He said the CDA should expedite the process. Another official of the Housing Ministry said excessive delay on part of the CDA in land acquisition was almost a routine affair. He said development of G-13 and G-14 had suffered a lot due to the CDA’s failure to timely identify and get hold of land. He said the ministry had planned construction of around 37,000 houses for the low-paid federal government employees on ownership basis. The official said in view of the federal government employees’ residential problems, the ministry had planned the scheme to be carried out in the capital. The CDA director (Land and Rehabilitation) couldn’t be contacted despite good efforts. app
