KHAIRPUR: The government of Sindh has handed over the finances of District Khairpur to an electrical engineer of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Corporation.
Akhtar Nabi Dogar, Bachelor of Engineering (electrical), was serving at HESCO when the PPP govt handed over his services to the Sindh government where he was posted as District Officer Works and Services.
Dogar, a close relative of a former chief justice of Pakistan, is now enjoying the post of Executive District Officer Finance, a seat that is far from his academic and professional calling.
Sources in the district’s finance office said that Dogar has no experience of finance and budgeting and his posting in the department was something more than a surprise — it was a shock.
Finance department officials said that Dogar’s posting made clear that the Sindh government was pursuing nepotism and favouritism.
Official sources said that Hassan Ali Shah, brother of the Taluka Nazim Gambat of District Khairpur, has been posted as District Officer Finance in DCO office Khairpur. Hassan Ali was serving as Drainage Officer at Port Qasim.
Nadim Shah District Officer in National Programme for Improvement of Watercourses (NPIW) has been posted as Deputy District Coordination Officer Khairpur with additional charge of District Officer Planning.
When contacted by the scribe, senior officials of the Finance Department were reluctant to comment on the issue.
