ISLAMABAD: The Senate Committee on Interior was on Tuesday informed that a file containing the record of the grant of citizenship to an accused in a drug trafficking case was burnt during a fire in the Shaheed-e-Millat Secretariat in 2002. Interior Ministry officials told the committee that Syed Sarwat Hussain, a former Indian national accused of smuggling drugs to Saudi Arabia, was granted the Pakistani citizenship in 1991, after complete security clearance. tahir niaz
