KARACHI: Mitsuhiro Sonoda, who has taken over as President Toyota Motor Asia Pacific (T-MAP), visited Indus Motor Company (IMC) recently, a press release said.
He was accompanied by Y Kita, General Manager Toyota Motor Asia Pacific. He toured the plant including the in-house press shop and training centre and was given a presentation highlighting IMC’s performance, milestones, production improvement activities and future plans.
Sonoda noted that the IMC increased its market share from 26 per cent in 2007-08 to 32 per cent in 2008-09, despite the current industry downturn.
He said that the automobile industry has a key role to play in the transfer of technology, localisation, increasing employment and is the major contributor in the growth of the engineering sector.
He reiterated Toyota’s ongoing commitment and support to the IMC and acknowledged the skills and efforts of the IMC team for building quality cars.
