Full Version: Karachi: No-parking zones enforced in Saddar for 30 days

The Sindh Government on Tuesday, issued notices to declare nine roads in Saddar Town as No-Parking zones.

The sectors include the whole of Preedy Street, Shahrah-e-Iraq, and Mansfield Street. Another section is from Sarwar Shaheed Road to Price Street and Mir Karam ali Talpur Road, and sections from Preedy Street leading towards Sarwar Shaheed Road and Dr. Daud Pota Road.

More sections issued for closure are the Abdullah Haroon Road leading towards Sagheer Shaheed Road and to Sarwar Shaheed Road, also Zaibunisssa Street from Preedy Street. Agha Khan III Road, section M. A. Jinnah Road to Preedy Street, Raja Ghazanfer Ali Road from Preedy Street to Sarwar Shaheed Road.

The notice has been issued on recommendation of the City Nazim, City District Government Karachi (CDGK), by exercising the powers conferred under section 144 Criminal Procedure Code. Parking will be banned on the above mentioned roads from 10 am to 10 pm daily, for a period of 30 days and shall be executed immediately.

According to the details of the order, the step has been taken to ensure smooth flow of vehicular traffic in the area. Violators will be prosecuted under Section 188 Pakistan Penal Code and other applicable laws.

These sections were declared as No-Parking zones in August for a period of seven days from August 8 to August 14, by the City Nazim, but this move is a part of the larger project of making Saddar a pedestrian friendly area.
