NEW DELHI: Former BJP leader Jaswant Singh on Sunday said he wanted to remove the negative perception of Pakistan’s founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah in India.

“I want to remove the negativity surrounding Jinnah,” he said while talking to people present at a book-signing event.

When asked about his future plans after being removed from the BJP, Singh said he was presently focused on promoting his book across the country.

Jawant’s book “Jinnah: India-Partition-Independence” has become the new bestseller and publishers are trying to meet with the rising demand.

Despite a ban imposed by the Gujarat state government and negative propaganda by some think tanks and politicians, the book is out of stock at most book stores and the publishers now plan several launching ceremonies across India.

Meanwhile, the Federation of Indian Publishers has extended strong support to Jaswant’s book and condemned the Gujarat government for banning it.

Jaswant earlier said one needed to write about Jinnah, whom even Mahatma Gandhi had called a great man.

“Even today, 50 to 60 books are written about the American civil war. But here we write one book on India’s partition and Jinnah and you are expelled from a party,” he said. app
