ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has once again decided to install chairlift at Margalla Hills despite the objection raised by environmentalists that caused to shelve the project in 2004. The environmentalists believed that the chairlift was hazards to the National Park, reserved as green area under Master Plan. Residents have been demanding the chairlift that could add to their joys in winter. Interior Ministry had sanctioned Rs 300 million for the project. It has been planned that 2.5-kilometer cableway would have 40 to 50 cable cars, and the project is likely to be completed within one year. A CDA official said concerns of environmentalists would be considered and steps would be taken for preservation of natural beauty. He said Pakistan Environment Protection Agency had opposed the plan because a number of trees would be axed. app
