Drug inspectors of Rawalpindi district conducted raids on various medical stores and health centres all around the city and sealed 10 medical stores upon violation of the Drug Act 1976.

According to a press release, under the directives of the Punjab chief minister and supervision of the Rawalpindi commissioner, DCO and Director Health Services Dr Zafar Iqbal Gondal, raids were conducted by Drug Inspectors Muhammad Shoaib Akhter, Muhammad Naveed Anwar, Jawad Ehsan, Muhammad Ismail, and Muhammad Munir in different localities of the Rawalpindi district.

During the raids, they sealed four clinics, namely Laiba Clinic, Dhoke Abdul Latif, Kamalabad; Pharmacy of Chinese, Peshawar Road; Sajid Hospital and Mother & Child Health Centres, Dhoke Banaras, Millatabad; and Mardan Medicicos, Saadat Colony, Wah Cantt.

According to the details, challans on selling expired and unwarranted medicines were sent against Shaukat Medical Centre, Khanna Road; Mosa Clinic, D Block, Satellite Town; Nelson Chemist, Chandni Chowk; Gillani Brothers, Gawalmandi; Khalid Medical Store, Chaudhry Walayat Road; Al-Rehman Medical Store, Khan Hospital Motor Agency, Murree; Awan Clinic, Moara Syedan; and Taj Medical Store, Lalarukh, Wah Cantt.

Secretary Quality Control Board, Rawalpindi District Abid Saeed Baig informed that a total of 229 medical stores were checked and 122 samples were collected that were sent to District Quality Control for chemical analysis. He further stated that two cases have been sent to the Provincial Quality Control Board, Lahore.
