Karachi

A modern Bachat Bazaar, said to be the biggest in the country, was inaugurated on Sunday in DHA Phase-VIII.

DHA Administrator Brig. Khalid Tirmizi was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. He hoped that the new Bazaar will provide an excellent shopping arena for items of daily domestic use. He further said that the new Bazaar will herald a socioeconomic revolution in the lives of the citizens of Karachi in general, and the residents of DHA in particular.

Spread over approximately 32 acres, the Bachat Bazaar, located in Sector-E, DHA Phase-VIII, is almost twice the size of the old Sunday Bazaar, and will be open twice a week — on Sundays and Wednesdays.

The Bazaar is covered with fibreglass and has 12 aisles, lined with colourful tiles, between the sheds. As many as 1,850 stalls with covered tops have been set up in the area, where leading national and multinational franchises have established their sale points.

A significant feature of the Bachat Bazaar is the provision of comfortable rest areas with 18 large fibreglass sheds and 200 benches. A food court, a playing area for children, and a public toiler facility, comprising ten blocks with four toilets each, are also part of the new complex. Two spacious parking areas have also been provided for secure and easy parking of vehicles. The roads leading to new Bazaar have been reconstructed and carpeted and streetlights have also been installed in the area, while a “vigilance hut” has been established for monitoring and security purposes.
