‘SC can stop impeachment proceedings’
LAHORE: The Supreme Court can issue an injunction to stay the impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf, say constitutional experts. Talking to Daily Times, former Lahore High Court Bar Association president Ahmed Awais said that an injunction could provide a way for Musharraf to prolong the issue. Senior constitutional expert SM Zafar said that normally the SC would not interfere in matters of the parliament. However, he said, the SC could take up the impeachment issue if allegations in the chargesheet against the president attract the court’s attention. rana tanveer
