LAHORE: The city witnessed partial rain on Thursday, while the other parts remained dry. Rain was recorded in Model Town, Shadman, Walled City, Jail Road, The Mall and Mozang. Traffic flow was disturbed due to the accumulation of water on the roads. The traffic was disrupted on The Mall from Anarkali to Regal Chowk, after mild flooding due to heavy rains at GPO Chowk and surrounding streets. Schedules were delayed as people waited for the rain to stop. Mushtaq, a motorcyclist on The Mall, said that the sun was out when he left home but was later stuck due to heavy showers and thunderstorm. The Metereological Office recorded 63mm rain in the city centre, although no rain was recorded at the airport. The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 33 degree centigrade, with minimum temperatures of 26 0C. The Metereological Department also forecast heavy rains with thunderstorms today (Friday). staff report / online
