KARACHI: The Signal-Free Corridor-III (SFC) was inaugurated here on Thursday.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad while addressing a large gathering of citizens at the inauguration ceremony at Fountain Chowk, Shahrah-e Quaideen said that the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has laid around 15,500-km roads during the last four years and on this Independence Day, it has also completed the SFC-III, while in the future, the SFC-IV may also be laid out.

City Nazim Mustafa Kamal, while addressing the gathering said that the ideology of Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has been endorsed by the citizens and they have shown it by actively participating in CDGK projects, such as the ‘I Own Karachi’ and the ‘Karachi Development Fund’.

The 28-km long SFC-III starts from Saddar and goes to Toll Plaza Super Highway would be used as an alternate route to Shahrah-e-Faisal and MA Jinnah Road, which are the main arteries of the city.

The SFC-III, which cost the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) Rs 2.60 billion, has been officially opened for the citizens of the city 24 hours before Independence Day. The opening of the SFC-III has opened a new chapter in the history of the city and it has also opened doors to speedy transportation of raw material to the corners of Pakistan. The SFC-III starts from Saddar Preedy Street and goes to Safoora Goth while Kamal recently announced its extension by connecting it to the 13-kilometre long avenue commencing from the Toll Plaza to Jinnah International Airport via Malir Cantonment.

The gigantic project SFC-III has numerous flyovers, some of which are located at Samama Shopping Mall in Gulistan-e Jauhar, Jail Chowrangi and at Shahrah-e Quaideen, elevated U-Turns at Abul Hassan Esphahani Road, Safari Park and NIPA Chowrangi, underpasses at Preedy Street and at Quaid’s Mausoleum, link roads to Super Highway, Malir Cantonment, Safoora Goth, Green Belt and is equipped with a stormwater drainage system.
