The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) has said that the master planning of approximately 12,000 acres acquired by the authority for its newly-launched DHA City project on the Super Highway has been initiated which encompasses environmental aspects.

Meanwhile, the DHA has invited applications for allotment of plots in the said scheme which has got an unprecedented response of the public, said a DHA spokesman in a statement.

He said that the DHA held a meeting with the officials of the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa) and assured them that environmental laws would be addressed during the master planning of the scheme. Sepa on receipt of the DHA’s response had conveyed to the authority in writing that the DHA had not violated Section 12 of the Environmental Act 1997 by launching the said scheme, claimed DHA spokesman Lt Col (retd) Rafat Naqvi.

The spokesman also claimed that the Sepa had never barred the DHA from carrying out construction of its new residential scheme on the Super Highway.
