KARACHI: The City Nazim Mustafa Kamal has issued directives to the officers and engineers in charge of construction works of the Signal Free Corridor-III (SFC-III) to ensure completion of the project by the 12th so that the project will be inaugurated for the citizens of the city as a gift on the Independence Day (August 14). In this regard, the Kamal had spent hours on visiting different phases of the SFC-III on Friday night. The construction work, which is already taking place round the clock, has been geared up with additional deployment of machinery and workers. Kamal said that the SFC-III is a unique project for the city in particular and for the country in general as this is integrated with seven different development projects worth Rs 2.5 billion. The Preedy Street phase has been pending for the last 40 years due to removal and rehabilitation of 1,385 families there but the Haq Parast leadership of the present City District Government Karachi has done the job smoothly. Kamal said that completion of the SCF-III on time was his goal because he has maintained the pace of completion of various projects on time so this project will also be ready on time. On this occasion, he also issued directives to the Parks and Horticulture Department’s director to finish planting of saplings and paving the ground with grass by the night of Independence Day. While reviewing water and sanitation lines underground side by side the project on various spots, he urged the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board officials to complete the work within four days. irfan aligi
