PUNJAB Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the process of installation of mechanical tanoors for the provision of Sasti Roti to the poor should be completed within a month and committees should be set up at the district level for the monitoring of Sasti Roti Scheme, said a handout issued here.
The CM was addressing a meeting which reviewed Sasti Roti Programme at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat today.
He said that Mohalla committees should be constituted immediately for supply of Sasti Roti to the destitute and all commissioners and district coordination officers should play their role in ensuring transparency in the scheme.
He said that Sasti Roti Project Authority will be completely autonomous and will evolve such a system with regard to Sasti Roti Scheme in the province so that the poor people of Katchi Abadis, industrial areas as well as hospitals, lorry addas and other areas could fully benefit from this welfare project of the Punjab government.
The CM said that only poor had the right over Sasti Roti and this welfare project will continue forever. He said that civil society, philanthropists, social workers and public spirited persons will be included in the project of public service. He said that Sasti Roti Project Authority has been constituted under the supervision of MNA Hanif Abbasi. He said that Sasti Roti project authority will be completely autonomous and its office will be in Lahore.
He said that austerity should be adopted with regard to the setting up of the office of the authority and competent and hard working officers should be posted. He said that complete authority is being delegated to Sasti Roti project authority and it will have to deliver results.
He said that the authority will ensure supply of Sasti Roti to the poor and destitute persons throughout the province by maintaining complete transparency in this welfare project. He said that mechanical Tandoors should be set up in such localities of workers, labourers and the poor where enlisted Tandoors under this scheme do not already exist.
