KARACHI: A 12.6km long road from Super Highway to Shahrah-e Faisal via Malir Cantonment was inaugurated on Tuesday.
During the inauguration ceremony, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan said that the Pakistan Army deserves special gratitude for re-demarking its boundary walls to the cantonment premises for this project. He said that President Asif Ali Zardari has resolved all technical impediments ahead of the mass transit system for the city, which would be shortly commenced.
In his address, City Nazim Mustafa Kamal said that the previous government had conceived this avenue project and provided 100 percent funds for the project, while the present City District Government Karachi has only taken care of its development work. The road is located at the coincidence of three towns namely Shah Faisal Town, Malir Town and Gadap Town, via Super Highway to Malir Cantonment to Shahrah-e Faisal. The avenue has a dual carriage with three lanes on both side and one storm water drain. It was a federally funded project worth Rs 1.02 billion. irfan aligi
