Capital to have 12 new picnic points

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) plans to construct 12 new picnic points on Margalla hills and in Shahdrah Valley, said CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari on Monday.

In a Capital Development Authority statement, Lashari said work on a 12-acre special park inside Fatima Jinnah Park, F-9, was underway.

He said the park would be opened to people in the next 30 days.

He said the Capital Development Authority had procured 70 non-mechanical units from China and Sweden for installation in the park.

He said the units cost the Capital Development Authority Rs 30 million.

Lashari said work for the Marghzar Zoo upgrade was in progress. He said South African consultants had been hired for the purpose.

The Capital Development Authority chairman said the city was pulling in large crowds of local and foreign tourists due to availability of better facilities. He said the Capital Development Authority was going all-out to turn the town into a favourite tourist spot.

Gallery 6 to hold group show tomorrow: Gallery 6 will hold an exhibition of paintings titled “Ambassadors of Pakistan” by various artists here tomorrow (Wednesday).

The exhibition will continue till August 20 featuring works of 12 artists, including Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Khan, Akram Dost, Ali Kazim, Ghulam Rasool, Masoor A Khan, Meher Afroz, Mudassar Manzoor, Mughees Riaz, Rashid Arshed, RM Nameen and Sana Arjumand. app
