The Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) has decided to take action against corrupt staff, Chief Executive Officer Khurshid Ali Khan told ‘The News’ here on Monday.

He said that Director General Military Lands and Cantonment Boards Major General Wajahat Mufti has directed the CCB to end corruption from the department for restoring its image among the public. Following his directives, we have initiated action against staff members including heads of building, property, sanitation, water and land departments, as we received complaints against them.

“I have taken action against some of the staff members working in water, building, land and sanitation sections. Earlier, warnings were issued to them, but no positive outcome was achieved.

He said that complaints were received against Tariq, the in-charge of the water tankers for his involvement in malpractices adding he has been removed from the post and enquiry is being conducted against him. “If found guilty, he would be removed from the services,” he added.

Probe against building inspectors Ihsan and Mujtaba is also under process. “We have opened centres at different places to receive the public complaints and people may complaint on the given phone numbers. Directors of the concerned departments have been instructed to approach the public through meetings on daily basis and rectify their problems on the spot otherwise they have to face action.”

“We have introduced a system of having direct coordination with the citizens as we are public servants,” he said adding action would be taken on genuine complaints. Meanwhile, Station Commander Brigadier Niazi convened a meeting to discuss the issue of solid waste management. According to the decisions taken in the meeting, the CCB would utilise both organic and inorganic materials of solid waste to recycle it. The organic waste material would be recycled for energy purposes, Khurshid Ali said.
