LAHORE (July 20 2009): The Board of Revenue Punjab has issued new stamp papers having various security features for checking fraud and bogus registration in the sale and purchase of properties and preparation of documents.

According to a spokesman of the Board of Revenue, Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif had directed the authorities concerned to take steps to check fraud and irregularities in the sale and purchase of properties.

Following the directives, the Board had got prepared specimens of new stamp papers from Security Printing Press Corporation Karachi. The serial number, district code, year, and the logo of the government of Pakistan in water marking had been printed on each stamp paper, besides invisible and ultra-violet security features had also been embossed on these stamp papers.

Only the Registrar could identify these stamp papers through a special device at the time of verification of registered deed. Similarly, fraud and registration of properties made through stamp papers to be purchased in back dates would also be checked, he added.

The spokesman said fraudulent persons had got prepared fake documents by purchasing stamp papers from any district in back dates and had grabbed properties through fake documents, besides depriving poor people of their hard earned money.

According to the spokesman, the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary had given the approval of the specimens of proposed stamp papers after which the Board of Revenue had placed a printing order to the Security Printing Press Corporation of Pakistan.
