ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has allocated seven acres of land in Shakarparian area for the establishment of National Centre for Arts & Culture to promote cultural activities in the country.

According to a senior official of the Ministry of Culture, the proposed centre will house modern facilities, which will help bringing arts and culture activities at par with the 21st century requirements.

Replying to a question about importance of the centre, the official said a number of countries had established such centres to showcase their achievements in performing arts.

He the proposed centre will contribute significantly towards the promotion of arts and culture. It would be used for training programmes, holding symposia, conferences, workshops and it has the potential to project the soft image of Pakistan, he said.

He said the area of Shakarparian was located between the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The entire area has numerous other attractions, including Pakistan Museum of Natural History, Lok Virsa Museum, National Monument, Shakarparian Park, Lotus Lake and Sports Complex. app
