Islamabad: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has formally requested the provincial government to approve the construction of Leh Expressway, aiming to bring the city traffic system in order in the new financial year. According to sources, Rs500 million have been allocated for initial expenditures for the purpose, while the total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs17.769 billion, 50 per cent of which would be provided by the federal government and the rest by the provincial government. According to sources, RDA had requested the federal and provincial governments to allocate funds for the project under which about 22km signal free roads would be constructed on both sides of Nullah Leh.
