Rawalpindi Police on Wednesday got vacated the public Chinar Park from land mafia’s possession and immediately stopped illegal construction work being carried out there since the last month.
The local residents have appreciated the police action carried out on the directives of the local administration. The mafia had deputed armed men at the park, which were scaring the old and young alike.
The residents said that Chinar Park exists for the last 50 years and was built according to Satellite Town’s master plan. The residents said the land mafia had the documents of possession for Khasra No. 467, while they had captured the public park located in Khasra No. 468.
According to the residents, the Rawalpindi administration during the last two days had asked the Revenue Department to demarcate the area and determine the location of the park and claimants’ land.
The Revenue Department enquiry report revealed that the park is located in Khasra No. 468, whereas the claimants’ land falls in Khasra No 467. On this, the local administration ordered the police to immediately get the park vacated from the land mafia.
