LAHORE: The National Highway Authority (NHA) and the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) have decided to remove all illegal and unauthorized U-turns on the highway.
NHMP N-5 Central Deputy Inspectror General (DIG) Syed Hussain and NHA Chairman Altaf Ahmed, in a coordination meeting on Wednesday, agreed on the point and decided that all the illegal and unauthorised U-turns on the highway would be removed and proper U-turns would be designed, as per international road safety standards.
The DIG said flawed road engineering with adverse road conditions, encroachments, and the illegal and unauthorised U-turns are the leading causes of accidents. He briefed the participants of the meeting that NHMP officers have controlled the accident ratio by a great extent. staff report
