Islamabad: Although majority of Pakistanis do not have any means of personal transportation, yet 41 per cent of them claim to have access to a motorcycle, a recent Gilani Research Foundation survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan said.

A nationally representative sample of 2,642 men and women from rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country was taken for the purpose.

About eight per cent respondents claimed to own a car, while the majority (90 per cent) said they do not have their own vehicle. Two per cent gave no response.

Around 41 per cent claimed to have access to motorcycles, although, these might or might not be owned by them and belong to a close relative or workplace colleague.

The survey also said that a higher percentage of urbanites have access to car as compared to ruralites.

As expected, respondents from higher income groups have cars, while motorcycles are used by respondents from almost all income groups, the survey added.
