RAWALPINDI: The City District Council (CDC) on Tuesday passed Rs 532.206 million budget of Rawalpindi Development Authority’s (RDA) for the fiscal year 2009-10. City District Nazim Raja Javed Ikhlas presented the RDA budget. The budget estimates show a surplus of Rs 30 million with Rs 532.206 million total receipts and Rs 501.796 million total expenditure. According to the budget document, the RDA will initiate two development schemes with the Punjab government grant. The provincial government would provide Rs 50 million for Leh Nullah Expressway and Flood Channel and Rs 16.881 million for development programmes for Sherpao Colony, Rs 15 million for feasibility study of Ring Road-II, Rs 35 million for reconstruction of five kilometer long Khanna Road from Benazir Bhutto Shaheed (BBS) Road to Islamabad Expressway via Sadiqabad and Haroon Chowk, Rs 20 for upgradation of Saidpur Road from Asghar Mall Chowk to Siddiqui Chowk and Rs 70 million for widening and remodeling of Hameed Khan Road at Dhoke Khaba from BBS Road to PAF Cinema. It said that the RDA would initiate Rs175.325 million worth of development works through its own sources. Under the annual development programme, Rs 25 million have been allocated for RDA’s Vista Housing Scheme, Rs 5 million for RDA Cottage Industry at Chakbeli Khan Road, Rs 10 million for construction of RDA Complex on BBS Road, Rs 1 million for fence and boundary pillars of RDA property, Rs 5 million for construction of shops and flats at Saidpur Road and Asghar Mall Scheme, Rs 2 million for landscaping and beautification of parks in Rawalpindi city, Rs 30 million for improvement of roads in RDA’s Housing Scheme, Rs 10 million for construction of flats/ residences in Asghar Mall Scheme and Civil Lines, Rs 10 million for RDA Business Heights at Sherpao Colony and Rs 80 million for the construction of Parking Plaza at Fawara Chowk. staff report
