The development of Karachi took place without any Master Plan during the last 60 years and the city comprises over 40 Katchi Abadees, City Nazim Mustafa Kamal has said.

He said that 822 Goths and 435 Katchi Abadis were leased but still there were 2,500 rural Abadis and many of them were such where neither ambulance nor fire brigade could go inside.

Kamal was talking to a group of students from the Bahawalpur Islamic University, who are currently on a study visit here. The students had called on him at his office.

The city nazim said that because of the initiatives taken by the city government, Karachi was included by the World Economic Forum among the 12 big cities of the world where economy was progressing fast. This will not only benefit the people of Karachi but the entire country, because Karachi contributes 68 per cent revenue to the national exchequer, he said.
