ISLAMABAD: June 28 was the hottest day of the year as most parts of the country, particularly Punjab and NWFP remained under the grip of a severe heat wave on Sunday. A maximum temperature of 49 degrees Celsius was recorded in Turbat and Joharabad. The following cities experienced the hottest day of the year so far. Kohat 48 C, Jhelum 47 C, Mangla 47 C, Bannu 47 C, Dera Ismail Khan 47 C, Lahore 46 C, Rawalpindi 46 C, Sialkot 46 C, Mandi Bahauddin 46 C, Peshawar 46 C, Muzaffarabad 46 C and Islamabad 45 C. Isolated dust and thunderstorms have been forecast for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujaranwala, Sargodha and Hazara divisions for Monday night, which might subdue the prevailing heat wave in these areas. app
