G-6 Sunday Bazaar inauguration on August 2: 1,400 stalls handed over to stallholders

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has handed around 1,400 stalls over to the stallholders after renovation of G-6 Sunday Bazaar.

Ninety-five per cent development work has been completed and power would soon be supplied to the stallholders, Deputy Director General Sanitation Mustafain Kazmi told APP here on Tuesday.

G-6 Sunday Bazaar is one of the oldest bazaars of the town and work on its renovation was started in November 2006. The official said that the opening of the bazaar would bring relief to the residents of G-6, G-7 and nearby sectors who had to visit the Sunday Bazaars set up in other sectors.

The official said that the weekly bazaar would start functioning from August 2 adding that 1,400 licences had been issued to the stallholders.

He said the authority had spent Rs 120 million on renovation and upgradation of the bazaar, and efforts were underway to hand the remaining 400 under-construction stalls over to the stallholders before the holy month of Ramadan.

Earlier, he said, there were 1,810 stalls in the bazaar but after widening of stalls and footpaths there were 1,800 stalls now and the affected stallholders would be given stalls at the H-9 weekly bazaar.

The official said that the stalls had been divided into four categories and given different colours to facilitate the customers to visit the desired stalls.

He further said that facilities like car-parking, water filtration plant, public toilets, security, public address system, streetlights and drainage system were available at the bazaar. app
