Sindh National Front (SNF) Chairman Mumtaz Bhutto has challenged President Asif Ali Zardari to contest polls against him without using the name of his martyred wife, saying if Zardari defeats him, he would abandon politics.

“Although for the last 16 years, I have never contested elections, I challenge Zardari that if he defeats me without using the name of Benazir Bhutto and state machinery, I would never take part in politics”, SNF Chief Mumtaz Bhutto said in a statement on Tuesday.

He recalled that prior to his marriage with Benazir Bhutto, Zardari had contested Union Council elections from Nawabshah but Zardari only secured 500 votes and faced a humiliating defeat.

He said that Zardari was planning to have a residence in Naudero but he would learn about what would happen to him when he would visit the city without protection of thousands of body guards.
