Unidentified assailants gunned down a woman in her office in Sector I-8/3 in broad daylight on Monday after confining other staff members in a room, police said.
The woman, Salma Qureshi, president of the Services Cooperative Housing Society (SCHS), was running an office in House no. 621, Street 70, Sector I-8/3, Islamabad. The assailants managed to escape from the scene after killing her.
Police, quoting the statement of the complainant, said that five men entered the premises and straightaway went to the office of Salma Qureshi. Some of them came out of the office and asked all employees to gather in a room after holding them at gunpoint. After confining employees in a room, the intruders went to the office of Salma Qureshi and left the office after some time.
The employees told police that they did not hear the sound of gunfire. Police guessed that the assailants used a silencer in the gun while shooting the woman. When employees went to the victim’s office, they found her dead.
The Industrial Area Police reached the scene upon receiving information and shifted the woman’s dead body to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.Police said that the location of the Services Cooperative Housing Society is in Sector E-11, adjacent to the Police Foundation Housing Society. According to police, land dispute could be the cause of woman’s murder.
