The Karachi Development Authority, in an attempt to check the misuse of amenity plots within its jurisdiction, has initiated action leading to the cancellation of plots being used for purposes other than the original plan.

Sources said in line with a decision of the KDA governing body on amenity plots, the authority had started serving show cause notices on some 500 allottees to clarify their position.

The governing body, on April 20, had resolved that a joint team of KDA land, engineering and planning departments should carry out a detailed survey of amenity plots to identify the original/planned use and check the violation of allotment rules, particularly their commercial use. A sub-committee of the governing body was assigned the task to go through the terms and conditions of allotment of amenity plots, check the violation in the case of allotted plots, rates and scrutinize applications for allotment.
