ISLAMABAD: The government has fixed a target of 3,858 megawatts (MW) power generation in the system during the year 2009-10 and in this regard earmarked of Rs 154.7 billion in the annual budget. According to the Annual Plan 2009-10, the country’s total installed power-generation capacity is expected to increase from 20,843MW in 2008-09 to 24,701MW in 2009-10. The increase in power generation includes 1,381 MW of rental plants, 1,949MW of IPPs, 478MW of hydropower and 50MW of wind power from Biomass to be added in the Water and Power Development Authority/Pakistan Electric Power Company system. ijaz kakakhel
