* Iqbal and Liaqat quarreled when former’s donkey entered other’s fields

LAHORE: Six people were killed on Monday when two groups fired at each other after a group’s donkey entered the other’s paddy field in Makki 460 suburb of Lahore.

Farooqabad Station House Officer (SHO) Mian Manzoor said Iqbal and Liaqat had a quarrel when the former’s donkey had entered Liaqat’s paddy fields. He said, Liaqat, Iqbal and the donkey had remained unhurt. He said Tariq, a notable, had tried to resolve the matter, but Liaqat and his companions started indiscriminate firing with an AK-47 rifle, killing Tariq on the spot.

When Tariq’s brother, Nasir, heard about the former’s murder, he entered Liaqat’s house and fired at Liaqat’s brother Mehmood, a police constable, and his cousin Imran, killing them on the spot. Liaqat and his accomplices attacked Nasir’s house and killed Nasir and his cousin Waheed.

The SHO said when the police tried to stop the assailants from both sides, women from both the groups resisted. He said the police seized illegal weapons including an AK-47 rifle, a .223 rifle and a 12-bore rifle. The bodies had been sent to Sheikhupura Civil Hospital for an autopsy.
