Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Tariq Mahmood Khan has ordered the reconstruction of the existing Service Road (West) from Faizabad to Koral Chowk.

During a visit of the road he said CDA was committed to providing better road facilities for the people.

The Chairman CDA said with the construction of Service Road (West) from Faizabad to Koral Chowk, more than 200,000 people of the areas would benefit directly besides general public. This would also share the traffic burden with Islamabad Expressway, he added.

Tariq Mahmood Khan directed the Engineering department to call tender within next three weeks for initiation of work on the project in July this year.

The chairman said that initially the eight kilometres long road would be reconstructed, expanded and later on it would be dualized after removing various bottlenecks.

He said to cope with the seepage of sewerage water along the service road (West), solid concrete wall would be constructed to avoid any damage to the road in future.

Earlier, the chairman inspected the overhead bridges on 7th Avenues and Islamabad Expressway and beautification of Koral Chowk. He directed the engineering department to fix sign boards for the guidance of the public on overhead pedestrian bridges on 7th Avenue.

The chairman also directed the environment department to work on beautification and landscaping around these pedestrian bridges.

He further directed the concerned department to facilitate the physically handicapped people, special persons and women who use these pedestrian bridges.
