Suo moto on plots non-allotment to women

LAHORE - Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif on Tuesday took suo moto notice over the alleged non-issuance of plots to three women who made full payment in 1981.
According to a complaint sent to the CJ by post, Humaira Amjad, Feroza Sarwar and Zammurad Salman bought three different plots, F-17, F-15 and A-62 of one kanal each in the Aitchison Housing Society in 1981. It is further alleged that plots F-15 and F-17 are in illegal possession of Arshad Butt, ex-president of the society while one Maqsood Butt is occupying plot A-62.
The CJ observed that the grievance seems to be genuine and directed Additional Advocate General Punjab M Hanif Khatana to obtain a copy of the record of the Aitchison Housing Society and appear before the court on June 4 with a complete report.
He also directed Mrs Amjad to appear on the same date.
Secy Health Dept
summoned
LHC CJ Justice Kh M Sharif has summoned the Secretary Punjab Health Department to appear before the court on June 4 in connection with illegible medico legal and autopsy reports that are usually fixed with bail applications.
He observed that these handwritten reports cause difficulty to judges reading them and in the case of either party may prejudice.
Prostitution scandal case disposed of
Chief Justice Lahore High Court on Tuesday disposed of a suo moto case after the SSP (Operations) told the court that three woman police officials involved in prostitution scandal had been terminated from the services while a case was also registered against other delinquents.
The terminated officials included Shaafey Bakhat Feroze (SI), Sitara Ahmad (Moharar) and Nazish Rehman (Constable) while lady constable Sundas Sana was given warning and a case was initiated against Rana Shafqat Shahzad, Yasin and others, the SSP told the court. Another lady constable Zara Mehmood was exonerated from the charges. The CJ had taken the notice on a news item appeared in a national daily about the involvement of lady police officials in prostitution under the supervision of high-ranking police officers.
