LAHORE

THE Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) on Tuesday disconnected water and sewerage connections of 10 housing schemes as they had not paid the dues of the agency.

WASA officials said the housing societies included Canal View Society, Sunflower Society, Ghosia Town, Merghzar Colony, Ahmed Housing, Saman Berg, Saroba Garden, Alakhtar Estate and Gulshan Ahbab phase III. They said the connections were disconnected of the societies or people who defaulted on Rs 50,000 or above. Challans were also issued to the defaulters, officials said.

They said the action was taken on directions of Chief Minister’s Personal Staff Officer Khawahja Imran Raza, deputy managing director of the WASA. They said Khawahja Imran had also directed the WASA to constitute teams for recovery of dues from the defaulters. They said WASA teams were also directed to register FIR against such accused who would illegal restore disconnected connection.
