LAHORE: City Traffic Police (CTP) on Tuesday fined 2,500 vehicles for using tinted glasses and illegal number plates, Daily Times has learnt. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Mirza Shakeel Ahmed told Daily Times the CTP took action against 1,529 vehicles in the first shift. Action was taken against the remaining vehicles in the second shift. The number of vehicles fined on Monday was 2,262, he said. The CTO said teams of wardens would educate motorists against the use of tinted glass. He said many drivers removed tinted glasses voluntarily. Discrimination: Sources in the CTP told that traffic wardens are directed to remove tinted glasses from every vehicle but do not fine any minister or high government functionaries. The CTO denied this and said the CTP had initiated the campaign without any discrimination. He said only VVIPs could use tinted glasses with permission from the Home Department. He said only those motorists were challaned who refused to remove the tinted glasses. rana tanveer
