A CAMPAIGN has been launched wherein the public has been requested to inform about power pilferage to deputy manager (Operation) concerned, whose office phone number and cell number are printed on the electricity bills, said a press release by the Ministry of Water and Power here on Thursday;

It said information on power pilferers could also be sent to DG (EM&C) on Fax No.042-9202637 and e-mail: pepco_emc@yahoo.com.

The ministry said the informers would be rewarded a certain percentage from the recovery of a “detection bill” recovered from the consumers.

Furthermore, if any DISCO official is involved in this criminal act, he will also be taken to task and drastic action will follow, the release added. The press release said mercury shot-up on Wednesday, which raised electricity demand to 15,110 MW from 14,842 MW as compared to May 26, but the boost in generation restricted the scheduled outages to 2,506 MW.

It was ensured that no emergency load management was carried out. The shortfall last year on the same day was 3,596 MW.

Moreover, the maximum export to KESC yesterday was 710 MW, whereas, the company was fed 560 MW the same day, last year.
