ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) has signed a package deal with affected people of sectors I-11 and I-12 to resolve 20 years old dispute for getting possession of these sectors. According to a press release issued here on Saturday, CDA and the affected people signed the agreement at CDA Headquarters. CDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Khan chaired the meeting. Khan said the package deal would be a good news for 2,500 allottees of plots in Sector I-11, who were awaiting possession for last 20 years. He said the land of sectors I-11 and I-12 was in possession of Soran and Bokra villagers for the last four decades, when the CDA had acquired this area for launching the new sectors. According to the package deal, CDA would get possession of 12,000 kanals of land for housing units till June 18 this year. The authority would also get possession of more than 300 commercial plots in Sector I-11, which it would auction. According to the deal, CDA would allot 2,400 plots to the affected people of villages Soran (Sector I-11) and Bokra (Sector I-12) along with the cash compensation for the build-up property. Malik Rehmat Khan, head of the affected peoples’ committee, welcomed the deal and assured that they would help CDA implement the agreement in letter and spirit and remove any hurdle in possession of land to the authority. He said they were happy, as they would get plots in the same area where they had been living since centuries and graves of their ancestors would not be removed. Khan thanked the affected people for their cooperation in resolving a lingering issue amicably. He said CDA was endeavoring to resolve all the possession issues in different sectors so that plots in these sectors could be made available to the allottees for construction of houses to overcome the shortage of housing units in Islamabad. staff
