LAHORE - The City police has posted lady constables as duty officers at 12 police stations of the City to create a soft image of the force in the eyes of the citizens. The initiative to appoint female duty officers at the police stations is also aimed at giving respect to the female visitors who feel offended in presence of men all around them.
The female police officials will perform their job at the reporting rooms of the police stations from 8:00am to 4:00pm. They will not only attend the females but also the male visitors at the reporting rooms established for guiding the general public.
According to the CCPO Lahore, unlike the past practice the lady constables’ designation is ‘Duty Officers’ not the Muharrar. He said the pilot project of posting lady police constables has been launched on the directives of Inspector General Police Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar. He said after the successful implementation in provincial capital, the lady constables would be posted at the remaining police stations of the City.
But there is little discrepancy as a press release issued by the SSP Operations, the lady constables will be called as Muharrars.
In the first phase the lady constables posted at the different police stations are Rozeena Yasmin at police station Defence A, Shmashad Bibi at Defence B, Saima Miraj at Faisal Town, Shazia Bibi at Civil Lines, Nazia Iqbal at Gulberg, Kalsum Bashir at Model Town, Abida Rafique at Muslim Town, Noshaba Rehmat at Old Anarkali, Sanjida Sarwar at Lower Mall, Muniza Tariq at Green Town, Shamshad Bibi at Iqbal Town and Nabila Hameed at Sarwar Road.
Most of these police stations are located within the posh and populated areas with greater female turnout.
On the hand, it is also learnt that in future Assistant Sub-Inspectors ASIs would also be considered for posting as Muharrar at the police stations of the City.
