Two veteran politicians — Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) chief Pir Pagaro and former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali — have expressed deep concern over the prevailing situation in the country, and have said that the federation of Pakistan was under serious threat.

Addressing a joint press conference at Kingri House on Saturday, Pagaro warned that if the situation continued, then the very survival of Pakistan would be jeopardised. He suggested taking “extraordinary steps” to ensure the survival of the country.

On this occasion, Jamali announced the formation of the Balochistan Qaumi Movement (BQM). Pagaro said the ruling elite was dominating the entire country and added that no one listens to Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah.

He said if Pakistan suffered any loss then Punjab would be held responsible. “Punjab feels it is superior to other provinces since it possesses nuke facilities,” he said.

The Taliban would have to be eliminated or the country might not survive, Pagaro maintained. He feared that “Taliban without beards” could enter any part of the country. However, nobody will accept them in their present appearance, he said.

The PML-F chief said that the country was passing through an abnormal situation and things should be “handled with appropriate strategy.”

Jamali said that the prevailing situation in Balochistan compelled him to establish the BQM. He said that the situation in Balochistan was in very bad shape and warned that the Centre would be held responsible if anything happened in Balochistan.
