The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) will convene a national conference on Balochistan on the basis of party’s fact-finding mission report and after receiving follow-up committee’s recommendations.

The follow-up committee has been constituted by PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in the light of the fact-finding mission report. The committee held its first meeting here at Punjab House on Saturday.

The committee headed by its convener ex-Sindh Governor Syed Mamnoon Hussain comprises party’s central Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal, Pakistan Muslim League-N Balochistan President Sardar Yaqoob Khan Nasir and media coordinator Asim Khan Niazi.

The first meeting of the follow-up committee after going through report of the fact-finding mission, decided to start a process of consultations with various stakeholders in Balochistan including political and regional parties and social groups to receive proposals on solution to the province’s problems.

“On the basis of these proposals and suggestions, we will compile recommendations to be presented to party Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif,” Ahsan Iqbal told ‘The News’ after the meeting.

PML-N leader said the party would adopt a categorical policy for solution to the political, financial and other problems of Balochistan province.

He said the dates and venue of the national conference would be announced later. “The political parties and other stakeholders will be invited at the conference on the basis of proposal to be received during the consultation process,” he said.

It may be pointed out here that Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had already written a letter to Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani to call a national conference on Balochistan, Fata and Swat.

He also gave a verbal reminder to premier during reception hosted by outgoing Saudi Ambassador, a couple of days back.
