ON the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, treatment facilities including medical, surgical items and facilities of MRI and CT scan tests are being provided to patients free of cost in the Lahore General Hospital.

LGH Medical Superintendent Dr Iqbal Hussain Kazmi, in a statement, said that due to availability of senior doctors, consultants and better medical facilities, there had been a record increase in the number of patients in the hospital.

He said that during the first quarter of the current year, more than two lakh patients visited emergency and outdoor wards who were provided free medicines. Similarly, 17,318 operations were conducted during this period while 9,376 CT scan, more than 50 thousand X-rays, 14,953 ultrasounds, 139,777 laboratory tests and 1,937 dialyses were also carried out during this period.

He said that due to evening outdoor shift and facility of free operation in the labour room, better health cover was now available to the citizens.
