The Islamabad Police Tuesday recovered a huge cache of illegal arms and ammunition from Rawat and arrested two persons involved in the illegal business, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, the Sihala Police conducted a raid on the ‘Raja Azim and Sons’ arms dealers in Rawat and recovered 62 single and double barrel 12-bore rifles, 15 NPB rifles, 43 pistols (30-bore) and 12,631 bullets. Police also arrested Malik Zubair of Basali, the owner of the shop, in the raid.

In the second raid on the ‘Marwat Arms Store,’ police arrested Niaz Muhammad belonging to Lakki Marwat and recovered 25 guns of 12-bore, 10 NPB rifles and 30 pistols with 10,550 bullets. Police also recovered fake rubber stamps from the shop.

Meanwhile, intelligence agencies have submitted a report to the concerned authorities on the sale of illegal weapons at Markaz F-8. According to the report, arms dealers provide all kinds of prohibited weapons with licenses for Rs300,000 to Rs400,000, said a source in a security agency. The source added that dealers have blank arms license books and stamps in their shops.

Deputy Commissioner Asadullah Faiz, when contacted by ‘The News,’ confirmed the illegal activities of arms dealers in Markaz F-8. He said that strict action has been initiated against such dealers and legal action would be taken against them.
