Two Sabzi Mandies and cold storages are being built in Karachi, and one each at Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar and Shahpur Jehanian, while cattle colonies were being established in various districts of Sindh, and a meat, fish and vegetable market is being established in Qasimabad (Hyderabad), at an estimated cost of Rs1,966.450 million.

This was disclosed at a meeting on Saturday, chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah. The meeting was called to review the progress of various development schemes of the Works and Services Department.

Sindh Minister for Works and Services Manzoor Hussain Wasan informed the meeting that out of a total 586 road schemes, 225 schemes were new, adding that Rs.9.00 billion have been allocated for these projects.

He said that out of the released amount of Rs7.935 billion, 315 kilometre of roads have been improved and 18 bridges and other new roads have been constructed. Besides, he added, it was decided that 980 kilometres of new roads will be completed by the end of June 2009.
