LAHORE: President Asif Zardari on Monday pulled out of a planned press conference with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown in Islamabad. In a move seen in the UK as a snub, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani instead joined his counterpart. A No 10 spokesman, said: “It is entirely appropriate that he has a press conference with his counterpart.” Analysts in Britain believe that the problem surfaced after Brown signalled a shift in the UK strategy for Afghanistan, announcing that greater effort will be directed towards the border with Pakistan. daily times monitor
