PESHAWAR: The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (SCCI) sub-committee would inspect three proposed locations on Tuesday for selecting one for establishing the Export Trade Centre.

A meeting to this effect was held at the SCCI on Monday with its President Sharafat Ali Mubarak. Industries Secretary Shah Wali Khan told the participants of the meeting that land for the Export Trade Centre would be provided by the provincial government while funds would be offered by the Trade Development Authority.

He said three locations at Rahsakai Motorway Interchange, Azakhel (Nowshera) and Badaber (Inqilab Road) were recommended, but the SCCI would select one for the centre.

SCCI former president Ghazanfar Bilour said Rashakai was a suitable place because the provincial government had proposed the place for the Reconstruction Opportunity Zone, Special Economic Zone and Pak-China Economic Zone. He called for allocation of 50 to 100 acres of land for the project.

NWFP Board of Revenue Secretary Mubashir Hassan and SDA Director Abdul Hameed Awan, in the meeting, said that the project would cost Rs220 million and Rs100 million had been allocated in the Annual Development Plan for the purpose.
